Ajay Devgn is all set to return as the determined IRS officer Amay Patnaik in the much-awaited sequel, Raid 2, which is scheduled to hit theatres on May 1, 2025.
Building on the massive success of the 2018 blockbuster Raid, which drew inspiration from a real-life income-tax raid from the 1980s, Raid 2 will explore the deeper layers of white-collar crime. Directed once again by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film is expected to revive the same intensity, gripping narrative, and suspenseful drama that made the original a fan favourite.
Raid 2 Release Date
Initially slated for a November 2024 release, ‘Raid 2’ faced rescheduling and is now set to hit theatres on May 1, 2025, coinciding with International Labour Day and Maharashtra Day.

Expectations and Suspense
Expectations are high for this sequel because of the first “Raid”‘s critical and financial success. In keeping with the qualities that made its predecessor exceptional, the movie is anticipated to provide an engaging story that blends action, suspense, and social criticism.
Both reviewers and viewers await how “Raid 2” will build on the groundwork established by the first film as the release date draws near, hoping for an interesting and thought-provoking cinematic experience.
Among the greatest martial arts films ever made
The sequel is probably going to conclude 2014 as the greatest action film of the year because The Raid: Redemption was so successful and is considered by many to be among the top action films of 2012. Compared to the first film, this one is essentially different since it has a plot. This film is a fantastic blend of a mafia drama and expertly choreographed martial arts.
Probably more skilled than any Hollywood filmmaker at the moment, Gareth Evans is a master at creating amazing action scenes. His ability to create such amazing vehicle chases and battle sequences on such a small budget is admirable. The dancing was spectacular, the script was decent, and the actors did a nice job conveying the material. Not to be overlooked is the stunning cinematography, which was expertly handled by professionals. The running duration, which might have been cut to 15 to 20 minutes, is perhaps the only drawback, but you will always be delighted while viewing this film.

All things considered, The Raid 2 is possibly one of the greatest follow-ups and even one of the greatest martial arts films ever made. Considering the duration, it tells the tale better than its predecessor and the choreography was also far better than the already iconic routines in the previous one. It had less action-wise than the last one, but it featured more brutality and action. You’ll be on the edge of your seat throughout. It deserves to be considered one of the finest in its category since it possesses all the qualities that make a martial arts film ideal. To show the world his full potential as a filmmaker, I hope Gareth Evans produces more high-budget movies. It would be fantastic if they included Iko Uwais, who may become a legend in the years to come.
